This April we’re celebrating the many short stories we’ve published at Rainbow Rumpus over the years. Below is some of the best fiction from our archives, as well as a collection of our book reviews.
Chloe feels different because her uncle wants to get married to another boy guinea pig named Jamie. She worries because she wants to be the most important person in Uncle Bobby’s life.
Noah doesn’t want an ordinary bedtime story. His story is called The Different Dragon, and it starts with him and his cat, Diva, as the two of them sail off on a starry night.
Hip hop music can be a different kind of storytelling. Prince Paul wrote some story-songs about dinosaurs, then answered some questions for Rainbow Rumpus about his music.

Who Else Has LGBT Parents?
Nicole Bobek is an American figure skating champion. She was raised in Chicago as an only child by her lesbian mother, Jana Bobek. Jana was also a talented figure skater, and began teaching Nicole how to figure skate when she was only three. Nicole quickly became a success. At the age of eleven, she placed second at the U.S. Championships in 1989. Two years later, Nicole competed in the Senior World Figure Skating Championships. In 1995 Nicole placed third at the World Championships and first in the U.S. Championships. She went on to place third at the U.S. Championships in both 1997 and 1998. Nicole has done more than win championships; she has also toured as a figure skater with Champions on Ice and appeared in the 2006 movie All the King’s Men.
