Noah is all ready for bed. He has taken a bath, brushed his teeth, and put on his favorite pajamas. All that is left is for one of his mothers, Go-Ma, to tell him a bedtime story. But Noah doesn’t want an ordinary story. His story, the story of The Different Dragon, includes his cat Diva as the two of them sail off on a starry night.
Noah helps his Go-Ma tell the make-believe story of a hungry boy and his cat. The two of them stumble on a not-so-fearsome dragon on their way to find a bedtime snack. The two travelers will make a new friend before the end of their bedtime adventure.
The best part of this story is that Noah and his Go-Ma are making it up together.
The Different Dragon, written by Jennifer Bryan, is for ages three to eight. Beginning readers may need some help with bigger words and longer sentences, but they will enjoy the pictures (by Danamarie Hosler), while an older reader can help with the longer passages.
