Rainbow Rumpus provided programming for 45 kids in grades one through five at this year’s Rainbow Families conference in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The conference was attended by LGBT-headed families from across the upper Midwest. In their evaluations, 90 percent of kids liked or loved the activities we did together.
At the conference, we talked about what gives each of us our identities. Part of who we are comes from our families, and part of who we are is unique to each of us. Kids created “identity maps”—or drawings of what makes them unique—and listened to a read-aloud of Rainbow Rumpus’s printable picture books . All of the artwork pictured below is posted at kids’ request. If your picture is below, we hope you enjoy seeing it!
Many thanks to all of you who joined us at this year’s conference. We look forward to keeping in touch and seeing you again next year. And remember, if you’d like to see your work or picture in this space, you can send it to PO Box 6881, Minneapolis, MN 55406, or email it to kids at rainbow rumpus dot org.
