Here are some thoughts from Rainbow Rumpus friends.
I’ve never had that assignment, but maybe it’s ’cause I’m in 6th grade. You could just do it about your biological mom. Maybe you could say you can’t do it and not have to do it at all!! (kidding) You could ask for a different kind of assignment instead. If it was a teacher I trusted I might talk to the teacher, but if it was one of those scary teachers I wouldn’t.

It’s a stupid assignment because lots of kids are adopted or have families like yours. I think you should tell the teacher and the principal that there shouldn’t be assignments like that. You could tell the teacher about your family.
