Uncle Bobby’s Wedding is the story of a girl guinea pig named Chloe. She feels different because her uncle wants to get married to another boy guinea pig named Jamie. She worries she won’t be the most important person in Uncle Bobby’s life. She wants him to do fun things with her, like going to the ballet and eating ice cream.

Chloe soon learns that Uncle Bobby and Jamie can do these things with her too. They take her sailing and play board games with her. Uncle Bobby, Jamie, and Chloe have just as much fun being three as Chloe and Uncle Bobby had being two.

Uncle Bobby and Jamie give Chloe the special gift of being the flower girl in their wedding. All of Chloe’s relatives—aunts and uncles, cousins and grandparents—watch Chloe walk down the aisle holding her pretty bouquet of flowers. After the ceremony, all of the wedding guests dance in the moonlight. Chloe dances with her Uncle Bobby and Jamie; it is one of the best nights of her life.

Have you ever felt afraid because things have changed in your life? Everybody feels like that at one time or another. Uncle Bobby’s Wedding shows us that change can be a good thing, and new people can make our lives so much better. Chloe is a little guinea pig who realizes she has so much more than just a great uncle. The illustrations are perfect for the story; the expressions on the faces of the guinea pig family are joyful and help us to fall in love with Chloe and her family.

Uncle Bobby’s Wedding is written by Sarah S. Brannen and published by G. P. Putnam’s Sons. You can find it at your local bookstore or library.
