Dandelions

By Marion Dane Bauer

Daddy says, “Blow a dandelion puff.
One o’clock, two o’clock, three o’clock,
four.”

Papa counts, “Loves me.
Loves me not.
Loves me.”

But I know
the time
and
love.

So
I blow
and blow
and count
my own game.

“Another yellow flower.
Another yellow flower.
Another yellow flower.”
