Get Involved in No Name Calling Week, January 21-25th

By Cindy Koy © 2007

Have you ever been laughed at or called a name that hurt your feelings?  Looking back, can you recall a time when you might have made someone else feel small, insignificant, or helpless? …or did nothing while watching it happen to someone else?

Chances are, we’ve all been there at one point or another...even though we know that it hurts other people.  Sometimes we do it because we know it will hurt them.

No Name-Calling Week serves as a reminder that you can do something about it.  Click here to get a teacher’s guide that goes with the story above and share it with your English teacher. Encourage him or her to visit www.nonamecallingweek.org to find more curricula.

You don’t have to sit silently by while someone else is being picked on or being called names.  You don’t have to be part of the group that hurts others or pretends that others are not getting hurt around you. Talk with your friends about what you can do.
